This weekend Toby will be playing his first shows out as ‘Summit of the Big Low’ a name that nods back to early Sound Sanctuary days for what to expect both lyrically and sonically.
Summit of the Big Low could be considered a spin-off or evolution of Sound Sanctuary (time will tell), as although the project is primarily a solo endeavour centred around Toby’s acoustic songwriting, a steadily growing backlog of new home recordings are peppered with vocal performances from past band members, instrumentation from new collaborators and feature production magic from Bombay Monkey’s Andy Organ who alongside Guy Martin helped define the Sound Sanctuary sound in the early 2000s.
So watch this space… a series of SOTBL EPs are planned for release starting later this year and Toby will be road testing the new material at some low key festivals this summer, kicking off at this weekends Halfway House Beer Festival (Sat 12pm) and Unfest (Sun 1pm).
See you out there!
